CONFORMATION - Judge: Michael LaSpina

I was delighted to be invited to judge the GGPWCF's April 1, 2007 Spring Match. Thank You's and my sincere appreciation go to all involved in making my assignment enjoyable; especially Match Chair Vicki Lubarsky and my able Ring Steward Kathy Runkle.

Thank You's also to all my exhibitors who presented beautiful Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppies and adults. I found the judging assignment educational with consistent quality evident. Pembroke Welsh Corgi breeders have my admiration for keeping your breed true to your Standard.

Match Results:

3-4 Month Puppy Dogs (class of two)

FIRST - 402 - NEBRIOWA COLE HAAN
A nicely balanced puppy having substantial bone at a young age. Nice head quality with pleasing expression. Movement difficult to assess at such a young age. Wonderful condition overall.

SECOND -401- FAERIE GLEN HI JINKS
Also a nicely balanced male puppy but today I preferred FIRST place head over this youngster's head. I liked his body type but once again movement difficult to assess. (I'd like to see this class once again with maturity.)

4-6 Month Puppy Dogs (Class of Three)

FIRST -403- TAMS BELLAGIO
Wonderful shoulder angulation and depth of chest with good length of body and spring of rib. Topline solid. Moving well and showing himself. Good condition.

SECOND -405- TAMS MONTE CARLO
Tricolor littermate to FIRST place not equal in length of body and spring of rib on this day. However, his movement was pleasing.

THIRD -404- CANTEBRIAR SAMUEL ADAMS
This young male was more square than rectangular in body type today and backskull needs to flatten as he was domey at the moment. A tad finer overall than the competition.

6-9 Month Puppy Dogs (class of three - one absent)

FIRST -407- BRNAYR LITTLE RASCAL
Structure in this young dog was evidenced by good movement. A nice head set upon good length of neck over nice shoulder layback and good depth of chest. Good length of body and balance. BEST OPPOSITE TO BEST IN MATCH

SECOND -408- CEZANNE's ESCAPADE
Red-headed tri on this day not square in body length but I would have like a bit more length. Rear movement not pleasing to my eye with missing parallel tracking. Still he exhibited himself well and has a pleasing expression on a nice head.

OPEN DOGS (Class of Two)

FIRST -411- FAERIE GLEN LARCHMONT GREAT HIT
A masculine dog with overall nice balance. Correct length of body, topline, and legs set under him. Nice head quality with pleasing expression. Good condition.

SECOND -410- KNIGHTSBRIDGE HE's A RIGHT GUY HC
This dog was lacking in correct head type being less masculine. He was fine in muzzle and backskull. He does have wonderful structure and good movement however. Was nice to see him gait.

3-4 Month Puppy Bitches (Class of three)

FIRST -414- NEBRIOWA RED STILETTOS
Nicely balanced puppy bitch with no outstanding faults. Like her shoulder layback and spring of rib. She was able to gait around the ring to exhibit soundness. Also liked her head and expression.

SECOND -412- NEBRIOWA KINKY BOOTS
Litter sister to FIRST she was finer overall but still having quality head and expression. Earset very pleasing.

THIRD -413- FAERIE GLEN HI SIERRA
The youngest in class she was smaller and needing maturity to assess how she will meet the breed standard. Today she was more square than rectangular in length of body.

4-6 Month Puppy Bitches (class of ten)

FIRST -416- NEBRIOWA GILDA
Could not fault her in this large class of ten. She exhibited the breed standard very well.

SECOND -418- CYPRESS FIRE OPAL AT NEBRIOWA
Very pretty young bitch with just slightly less length of body than FIRST. Was impressed with good movement. Nice depth of chest.

THIRD -420- ROCKY L GRAND ILLUSION
Again a nice quality young puppy bitch. However on this day she had some hesitation in movement getting around the ring. Going over her structure I was pleased, so disappointed she decided to be a puppy upon gaiting.

FOURTH -423- NEBRIOWA VERONICA
Good quality young bitch just a tad shorter than the competition in length of body. Otherwise pleasing conformation.

6-9 Month Puppy Bitches (class of four)

FIRST -426- CEZANNE's RAVISH 'N' RED
Outgoing showmanship! Soundness and correct head qualities made her easy to place.

SECOND -427- BRNAYR ANGEL EYES
Was a very close choice for FIRST place as she was also sound and correct overall but was edged out and into SECOND as she didn't ask for FIRST today!

THIRD -425- BRNAYR LITTLE DARLA
Another nice puppy bitch whom on this day was outmoved by her competition. She was not as pleasing in expression.

FOURTH -428- CEZANNE's COLORETTE
She did not have correctly set ear placement on her head though an overall nicely balanced body. Her movement was lacking in the rear on this day.

9-12 Month Puppy Bitches (class of one)

FIRST -429- BRNAYR MYSTICAL DREAM
She was without fault on this day. Everything about her was the breed standard plus showmanship. BEST IN MATCH/BEST PUPPY

NOVICE BITCHES (class of Three - One Absent)

FIRST -430- BRNAYR EXUBERANCE
Nice bitch with a slight drop in croup that affected topline.

SECOND -431- VERILO PROMISE HER ANYTHING
Misbehaving today making it difficult to assess overall. She was more square in body and ears a tad short. A nice expression despite her mood.

OPEN BITCHES (class of One)

FIRST -433- NEBRIOWA RIBBONS AND LACE
Beautiful bitch! Another entry without fault.

BEST IN MATCH as well as BEST PUPPY -429- BRNAYR MYSTICAL DREAM

BEST OPPOSITE SEX TO BEST IN MATCH -407- BRNAYR LITTLE RASCAL

Today's BEST IN MATCH class was a quality ring of FIRSTS from 3-6 Month on up to OPEN in both sexes.

I was torn between my OPEN Bitch FIRST and my 9-12 Month Puppy Bitch
FIRST as both were neck and neck in exquisite examples of correctness.
I chose my 9-12 Month Puppy Bitch, BRNAYR MYSTICAL DREAM for BEST IN MATCH/BEST PUPPY as she edged out the OPEN Bitch by exhibiting a more feminine appearance.

I was pleased to see this 6-9 Month Puppy Dog BRNAYR LITTLE RASCAL FIRST in the BEST IN MATCH class of FIRSTS and he again exhibited soundness and overall balance and stood out in competition for BEST OPPOSITE TO BEST IN MATCH. Like my BEST IN MATCH placement he was quality.
